- Goshin Karate Club is traditional yet friendly and welcomes the involvement of students' families
- Classes are disciplined but not dictatorial
- Students respect their teachers but do not fear them
- The club does not exist for the financial gain of the instructors
- Self defence is interpreted broadly, for example encompassing strategies for coping with bullying at school
- The club respects the roots of Karate taught by Master Harada and as founded by Master Chew Choo Soot
- The club style has its roots in traditional Budokan & Shotokai Karate but is constantly evolving
- All martial arts are appreciated and proponents of other styles are often welcomed for demonstration sessions
- The club is non political and welcomes male and female students of all races and religions
- All martial arts carry an element of risk but all students and instuctors are insured and the club places a strong emphasis on safety
- Everyone has the right to be taught to defend themselves.
